Inquires on your Claim
Don't do it unless don't mind a delay in processing!

If you call the VA at 1-800-827-1000 and ask the status on your claim, do not let the Telephone Claims Councilor initiate an 'Inquiry" on your claim. If they do it will stop the process on your claim until the records are returned to the point in the process that the inquiry was made.

In short, DON'T let the VA start an inquiry. It will take longer for the claim to be completed.

There is a better way to handle it... if you have a recognized National Service Organization helping you with the claim, and they have a Rep in the Regional office, let them go in and check on the status. They can go directly to your folder and check on it and immediately put it back where it was without interrupting the process.
